Manager's Corner

Overview

The Manager's Corner is dedicated to one of the hardest working professional constituencies in American healthcare - the frontline nurse manager. We want to celebrate and support your unique contribution to our success in delivering high-quality, member-focused care 24/7.

The Manager's Corner will seek to provide you with the tools and insights that we think nurse managers need and deserve to be successful in their role. A role that has grown exponentially across the last decade to cover the entire spectrum of management and leadership responsibilities in health care - in their daily work nurse managers are ultimately accountable for their unit's financial performance , staff morale and retention, cross-departmental collaboration, patient and physician satisfaction, technology implementation, regulatory compliance, patient care quality and staff development.

Without question, the work of the nurse manager today is in many ways comparable to any manager at large corporations such as IBM or GE. Nurse managers have responsibility for multimillion dollar budgets, oversight of anywhere between 2 and 100 FTEs, and all in an environment where life-altering decisions are made daily.

Much more than mere managers, you are leaders in the truest sense of that word.

The Managers' Corner aims to provide nurse managers with easy to access and timely information about current issues and trends in nursing leadership and management. Here you will find information about courses offered through the Nursing Leadership Institute, tools and ideas to inform your daily management decisions, as well as a frequently updated Spotlight on current trends and issues in nursing, management, and beyond.
