Program Description:

Health literacy is the degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions. The purpose of this program is to explore the implications of this “hidden epidemic” and to identify tools and techniques to assist patients and enhance health literacy. This video program is designed primarily for all clinicians who provide direct patient care.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this program, each participant will be able to:

  1. Describe the scope and implications of the health literacy problem.

  2. Identify the barriers faced by both patients and clinicians.

  3. Identify specific strategies to enhance health literacy.

Continuing Education credit:

Approved by the BRN for one contact hour. Provider number 14147.

Approved by the BBS for one contact hour. Provider number 2655.
