Program Description:

This video program is designed for all clinicians, especially those who provide care to patients who are high risk for developing stroke. Content will focus on review of pertinent anatomy and physiology, preventive interventions, pathophysiology, diagnosis and acute management of stroke.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Upon completion of this program, each participant will be able to:

  2. Describe the pathophysiologic mechanisms involved in stroke,

  3. Differentiate the two types of stroke, ischemic vs. hemorrhagic.

  4. Describe the clinical manifestations if the lesion involves the:

    1. middle cerebral artery

    2. anterior cerebral artery

    3. posterior cerebral artery

  5. Discuss the initial evaluation involved in the diagnosis of stroke.

  6. Cite the clinical evidence that support early intervention with tPA therapy.

  7. Identify ways that stroke can be prevented.
