The mission and vision of the Interregional Nursing Council (INC) is to provide leadership and direction for achieving high quality nursing outcomes in the delivery of care and service for patients and members of Kaiser Permanente. Toward this end, our 2004 goals are aligned with the goals of the organization as a whole and focused on contributing to the success of every nurse through our six Nursing Pathways:
The mission and vision of the Interregional Nursing Council (INC) is to provide leadership and direction for achieving high quality nursing outcomes in the delivery of care and service for patients and members of Kaiser Permanente. Toward this end, our 2004 goals are aligned with the goals of the organization as a whole and focused on contributing to the success of every nurse through our six Nursing Pathways:
- Workforce – Ensure the development of a competent workforce for the future.
- Learning – Decrease the cycle time from education preparation to proficient, competent practitioner through closer partnerships between service and academia.
- Leadership – Guide leadership development programs to facilitate the development of strong nursing managers and improve nurse retention.
- Practice Work Environment – Create a supportive work environment in which nurses can learn, grow, and be actively involved in decisions that impact care.
- Nursing Research – Sponsor and support appropriate cross-regional nursing research.
- Quality & Patient Safety – Set the standards for nursing practice.
Within the context of these goals and objectives, the INC is expanding its visibility and accountability for leadership and direction on nursing-related issues by taking on such important projects as scope of practice related to the KP HealthConnect build and providing recommendations on competency measurements in advice nursing. This work will ultimately elevate the role of nursing Programwide and help create and identify best practices to share among the regions.
Because the INC is comprised of nurse executives from every Kaiser Permanente region, our collaborative efforts ensure a consistent, focused approach across the Program. Through quarterly conferences and smaller work groups charged with delivering specific objectives, we are committed to making sure that nursing is valued as a strategic resource, providing opportunities for professional growth and leadership development, and fostering a work environment and nursing culture that enable nurses to fully realize their professional potential. By contributing to the success of the individual nurse, we can strengthen and continue to provide the best possible nursing care for our members and our patients.
