If you are a UHW employee
free career counseling services, pre-requisite courses that fulfill the requirements for nursing and allied health, and a stipend program are available.
Examples of pre-requisite/career preparation courses offered include:

Elementary Algebra
Microbiology
Medical Terminology
The Nurse/Professional Technical Education Stipend Program offers stipends to enable employees to reduce hours the number of hours they work so that they may focus that time on school. Stipends are generally awarded to employees who are enrolled in programs where Kaiser has a critical need and job openings upon graduation of school are anticipated.
Kaiser and the Education Fund also offer Upgrade Skills training programs to eligible UHW members. Examples of past/present programs include Unit Assistant, Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Phlebotomist, Sterile Processing Technician, Surgical Technician, and Medical Coding Specialist.
